Not all areas of a state have vegetables farms that are open to the public. If you know of any others, please tell us using the add a farm form!
Remember to always check with the farm's own website or Facebook page before you go - or call or email them if they don't have a website or Facebook page. Conditions at the farms and crops can change literally overnight, so if you want to avoid a wasted trip out there - check with the farm directly before you go! If I cannot reach them, I DON'T GO!

They began at this location in the early 2000's as a small 20 acre u-pick field with a small variety of vegetables and expanded into a 100-acre u-pik field with over 20 different u-pick items including tomatoes, peppers, butter beans, and peas. In 2020, everything that you pick in the 100-acre field is $11 per 5-gallon bucket, so make sure you B.Y.O.B (Bring Your Own Bucket). If picking your own veggies is not for you, they also offer a wide variety of already picked items such as watermelons, cantaloupes, corn, and various other items. (UPDATED: March 22, 2020 JBS)

Charlie's U-Pik Wiggins Facebook page. This is a smaller scale U-Pik than their Lucedale location. Approximately 30-miles from the MS Gulf Coast, this 50-acre field is 7 mile east of Wiggins on Highway 26. Tomatoes, peppers, onions, squash, cucumbers, and so much more will be here for the picking. Below are links to pages with easy and reliable directions about how to can, preserve, freeze and make other goodies fromveggiess. Some of these require a Pressure Canner to prevent potential spoilage and
food poisoning, due to the low acid content of the food. For others, you
can use a water bath canner OR a Pressure Canner. I've noted what's
required for each, below, following each entry, with
W for water bath,
P for Pressure canner, and
W, P for either may be used!
Boiled Peanuts! Now
Southerners who move to other parts of the country can make their own
home-canned boiled peanuts to eat later or give away as gifts
How to home-can pumpkin (in a cooked, cubed form) and
why you shouldn't home-can the pureed forms. Note: Pumpkin is difficult
to can safely - it is a low acid food, so that rules out open water bath
canning immediately. Pressure canners can be used, but according to the
health authorities (like the National Center for Home Food Preservation)
only if the pumpkin is cubed, rather than mashed. I usually just freeze the
cooked pumpkin! - P
